Cancer

What is it ?

• Cancer is a disease that occurs when cells in the body begin to grow uncontrollably, leading to the formation of tumors. These tumors can be benign (not cancerous) or malignant (cancerous) and can spread to other parts of the body through a process called Metastasis:-

• There are many different types of cancer, which are named after the part of the body where they start. Common types of cancer include lung cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, and skin cancer.

Current Data:

• Around 1.5 million new cancer cases are diagnosed in India each year, and the number of cases is expected to double by 2040.

• TCancer is the second leading cause of death in India and is responsible for around 7% of all deaths in the country.

• In India, one in nine people is likely to develop cancer in his/her lifetime.
